Himalayas
The Himalayas are the highest mountain range in the world, they are a result of two tectonic plates pushing at eachother to create nine out of ten of the world highest peaks, one of those being Mount Everest. They stretch over thousands of miles and hold an extremely diverse amount of flora and fauna. The Himalayas are a vital resource as they act as a source of rivers and fertile soil. The name ‘Himalaya’ means ‘House of Snow’ in Sanskrit an old Indian language. This mountain range is home to many animals, some of theses being black bears, musk, snow leopards, foxes, wolves, langur monkeys, red pandas, Himalayan tahrs and martens.
